Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they provide a Top Ten topic for you to create your list, then you share it on their post so others can find you. :)
♥ Top Ten Books I Thought I'd Like More/Less♥
It's not you, it's me...
These I really anticipated enjoying more than I did. This was based on either having read the author before (such as John Green), it being a sequel to one I did rather enjoy, or the description just sounding really good. Alas, I did not enjoy them as much as I thought I would, so here they are on this list.
In which preconceived notions were wrong...
These are ones I was impressed with after thinking that I wouldn't enjoy them that much. Some, such was the case with Code Name Verity, I figured the setting would throw me off. Others the description just didn't sound up my alley. But I went for it anyway and I'm glad I did.
What about you? What books surprised you, one way or another?
Smiles,

I want to read Ashfall! I want to read The Madness Underneath too, and I got it in paperback so I won't be terribly upset if I don't like it!

and GFC hehe.
DeleteHAHA... thanks for the follow(s)... I will return the favor. :)
DeleteI will definitely read the third in the Shades of London series, but for some reason the second just didn't live up to the first.
I was disappointed with the Madness Underneath, also. The Prophecy Sisters looked like such a cool book, but I just couldn't get into it. Devilish is a great pick!
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT
I managed to actually finish Prophecy, but sort of wished I would have just given up since there's so many other books I want to read. But oh well. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I haven't read any of these, but I'll have to check some of them out. :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully you enjoy them more or as much as I did. :)
DeleteI agree with The Madness Underneath, it made my list today too. I liked the first book in the series but the sequel was just flat.

Agreed. :)

Ah An Abundance of Katherines...I really tried with that book but it just didn't stick....which is a shame because John Green has such fabulous characters.
ReplyDeleteLoved Ashfall!
I know... I so expected to just really love Katherines, so I was quite disappointed. At least Looking for Alaska made up for it for me. :)
DeleteWhen I bought Ashfall I had just met the author. I was excited to meet an author, but I wasn't sure about the premise of the book. I'm glad Mike Mullin was there, though, or else I may not have bought it and read it and loved it. :)
I agree with ASHFALL and CODE NAME VERITY. I still really liked THE MADNESS UNDERNEATH, even though it wasn't as good as THE NAME OF THE STAR. Second books in series never seem to live up to my expectations of them!
ReplyDeleteSecond books a lot of the time have such big shoes to fill, so it's always risky going into them. I will still read the next, as I do want to know what happens, but I was left feeling a little disappointed with Madness.
Delete:)
I just responded to your comment on my blog, asking if you had read The Madness Underneath yet! LOL Sorry to hear that it was disappointing. I'm getting ready to start it tonight. Although I do agree with you about An Abundance of Katherines. I love John Green, and I love that title, but it just didn't live up to his other books. I did really enjoy Will Grayson Will Grayson though.

HAHA... I was checking my emails and saw your response on your blog and then this one. ;) I do hope you enjoy Madness more than I did. I think with Will Grayson it was the ending. I know a lot of people liked it, but I found it a bit *too* cheesy. It sort of fit, but it was still a bit much for me.
DeleteThanks for visiting!
I haven't read a single book on your list o.O - how is that even possible?
ReplyDeleteOld follower stopping by, here's my TTT post for this week.
Happy reading :)
I don't know... you need to get reading!!! lol :) There's just so many books out there to choose from that, sadly, it may never be possible to read all the ones we want to read.
