Review Policy

Thanks for checking out my review policy.  I really appreciate the time you've taken to check into my reading preferences.

My Reviews
To begin, when I review a book, it's true to my own personal thoughts and feelings about that book.  Whether I like the book or not, it is not a reflection on the author, nor it is a reflection on the hard work that went into writing the book.  I do not enjoy giving negative reviews, but I will not compromise my integrity to make someone else happy.  My reviews are not about analyzing or critiquing the work (although at times some thoughts on this might be included), they are simply whether or not I enjoyed it and why.

Typically my reviews will include all or some of the following:

  • Cover art
  • Title/author
  • Series (if applicable)
  • Publication date
  • Website (of the book itself and/or the author(s))
  • Month read
  • Rating based on my rating system (similar to Goodreads)
  • Synopsis (taken from Goodreads or Amazon)
  • Personal thoughts on the book

If this is something you are looking for, you're in the right place.  Read on for more information on what types of books I might accept for review and more information.

Types of Novels I am Likely to Accept
I mostly read Young Adult books as of late, but I do enjoy Adult novels as well.  Genres I prefer:
  • Paranormal
  • Fantasy
  • Contemporary Fiction
  • Mysteries/Thrillers
  • Romance
  • Chick Lit

Types of Novels I Will Consider
Given that I am a Youth Services Director, and I have young children myself, I am willing to consider books for younger children as well.

Types of Novels I am Unlikely to Accept
  • Non-fiction
  • Titles with religious undertones

Note Regarding Series
I am one who prefers not to read a series out of order.  If you have a review request that is a part of a series I have not read, I may ask that you provide a copy of its predecessors.  This will allow me to create a more well-rounded review.  Given the extent of my TBR list, I am more likely to accept a series request if it is the first or second novel.

Prioritizing Reviews and Time Frame
Novels that I have bought or requested personally will have top priority over all others.  Secondary priority will go to those I have accepted via a review request.  I cannot guarantee a review by a certain date due to time constraints caused by life.

It will be noted on my reviews when I have received a book for that purpose.
